Ongoing training in global best practices for mental health programme design

Programme overview & relevance
This three‐phase immersive programme brings together online learning, a residential in-person bootcamp and sustained post-programme mentoring. It is designed for practitioners, researchers, advocates and policy-actors committed to strengthening mental health systems, developing scalable interventions and embedding rights-based and evidence-led practice.
By participating in this course, I am deepening my capacity to analyse, design, implement, evaluate and scale programmes that address those challenges a core fit for my broader reform and advocacy agenda.

Key themes and modules
Throughout Phase I (online) I engage with foundational themes such as:

  • Task-sharing and the integration of mental health with communicable and non-communicable disease systems

  • Community-based participatory intervention design

  • Health systems strengthening and translating evidence into policy and practice in resource-constrained settings

  • Social determinants of mental health

  • The role and potential of digital and technology-enabled solutions in mental health

  • Critical reflection on the current state and future trajectory of the global mental health movement

Phase II (on-site bootcamp) advances into applied modules including:

  • Theories, models and frameworks for designing complex interventions

  • Implementation science: how to move from concept to operational intervention

  • Monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment of mental health programmes

  • Strategies for scaling up care plans and sustaining intervention impact in real-world settings

This program commitment will directly feed into my broader goals where I will apply course insights to frame, pilot and scale mental health initiatives, build partnerships, champion system-wide reform and embed accountability and evaluation into all phases of implementation.

I am currently enrolled in the 2025-26 edition of the Leadership in Mental Health (LMH) Course offered by Sangath, a globally recognised training programme aimed at equipping professionals with the strategic, operational and evaluative capabilities required to lead mental health systems and interventions in low-resource settings.
